5 Ways to Get More From Recipe Intelligence
May 28, 2026 · 2 min read
Recipe Intelligence is one of Purelyst's most powerful features — and one of the most underused. Here's how to squeeze every bit of value out of it.
1. Paste the Full URL, Not Just the Title
Recipe Intelligence works best with a direct URL. It fetches the full ingredient list from the source and analyzes it ingredient by ingredient. Typing "chocolate chip cookies" gives a generic result; pasting the URL from your favorite food blog gives a precise one.
2. Use the Circle Selector
Before you hit Analyze, tap the circle selector to check the recipe against your whole group. Each member gets their own verdict, and the summary shows you exactly which ingredients are flagged for whom.
This is especially useful when meal-planning for a family or preparing for a dinner party.
3. Check "May Contain" Ingredients Separately
Recipe Intelligence analyzes declared ingredients. But if you're highly sensitive, cross-contact during manufacturing can matter too. For pre-packaged ingredients in a recipe (like a specific brand of chocolate chips), scan the barcode with the regular scanner for the full allergen statement.
4. Save Recipes You Analyze
Every recipe you analyze is saved to your Recipe History. Long-press any saved recipe to:
- Share it with your circle
- Delete it from history
- Re-analyze it if you've updated your dietary profile
5. Type Ingredients When You Don't Have a URL
You're not limited to URLs. Tap the "Ingredients" tab and type or paste a list. This works great for:
- Restaurant menus (copy-paste the dish description)
- Handwritten recipes from family cookbooks
- Recipes in foreign languages (Purelyst handles them)
Recipe Intelligence is included on both the Individual and Family plans, with unlimited analyses — and you can try it during the 7-day free trial.
